Japanese Folk Tale
The Two Frogs
Two frogs: Many years ago in Japan there lived two frogs, they did not know each other. One lived in a ditch near Osaka and the another on the coast of Kyoto. One day they decided that they wanted to leave their homes and go on a journey to another part of the world. The frog of Osaka decided to visit Kyoto, while the frog from Kyoto decided to visit Osaka. So they began thier long journey traveling upon the road that connected the two cities. At some point they realized th journey was more tiring than thye expected it to be. Then, in the middle of the road they came to a huge mountain and when they reached the top they met each other! Realizing how much they had in common, they began to have long conversations about their two cities. They wondered if they could see the cities from the top of the mountain. So, one stood on the others' shoulder and they both looked over to the cities. Not realizing their eyes were in the back of their heads they saw their own cities instead of each others'. The Kyoto frog said, "Osaka looks just like Kyoto." And the Osaka frog said, "Kyoto looks just like Osaka." So they went on their separate ways realizing their was no point in seeing a city that looked just like their own. So, they never went on another journey again.
